Optically, these are very good. Easily the equal of much more expensive optics - wide, flat, sharp, bright, good color/contrast. The focus knob is a good size with the right amount of resistance and rotation. The eyepiece cover is a piece of hard plastic that does not attach to the strap. Better than nothing. You probably want an aftermarket eyepiece cover (rain cover) if you are going to use these outside - anywhere from $1 to $12 dollars from my search (sorry I cant recommend an actual item, I just found an old one in my parts bin I think is from a pair of steiner 8x30s). I would like these to be waterproof and a bit more rugged - all of which would increase the weight and price. What you get for your dollar is impressive with the Oberwerk 12x60. I am glad I purchased them and recommend them.
