These are by far the clearest and brightest binoculars I have ever owned. I am especially inpressed by the deep 3D effect these binoculars exibit. I feel like I can see deeper into the woods and can make out detail in low light conditions never before possible with lesser optics. Many purchase these for birding but I bought my set for hunting for many of the same reasons that birders appreciate. First the 8.5 magnification is about perfect, if you go much higher it becomes difficult to hold steady without support and the higher the power the more difficult it is to see in low light. Often the best times to hunt are during low light and the 44mm lens is a good compromise of weight and light gathering ability. I like that they are waterproof and fogproof as I feel wet weather is the ideal time to hunt. I also appreciate the very wide field of view these binoculars have, 100 ft better at 1K Meter than many other binoculars can claim. I haven't owned my 820's very long but they feel and look very durable.
