(More customer reviews)I own a chain where we buy precious metals and diamonds. I bought this loupe for myself and all of my people. I have to say, it's wonderful despite it's size. I can look through this thing for hours when it comes scrap time and I don't have a headache after wards. I've had it around my neck for about six months and it doesn't even think about falling open. Which brings me to my next point that will be important to anyone looking to buy one for similar reasons as myself.
It has a ring at the top that is just the perfect size to slip one of those ball style chains through (like on a ceiling fan or toilet tank) which you can buy for practically nothing at a hardware store. It's lined with metal, which is nice, so no worries of it wearing down like a cheap bale. Also on here, since I can't mention other product names in this review, you can spend about five bucks and get a hole sizer for round stones (very accurate, don't care what any bean counter says), knock the rivet out and put it right beside your loupe. Do yourself a favor though and use a vice (clamp down on the bulk and leave the rivet just barely above, the blank pieces on the outside work greak for protecting the good bits), a screw driver to break the splayed end and a little punch to push it out. I learned this the hard way.
There is another loupe that's a little more, which I bought as well to compare, by a major German name in optics (I'm sure you know who I'm talking about if you're looking at this). It's a great loupe as well, but it won't fit on any kind of sturdy chain. No complaints other than that.
Yes, it's pricey, but if you're going to have one of these glued to your face for any length of time I'd strongly suggest you clench your cheeks and spend the cash.
